My Story
A lifelong competitor and athlete, I’m passionate about helping you achieve your goals.
Since I could remember, I've always love sports. I grew up swimming competitively for 15 years, now running and doing triathlons as my sporting hobbies. My obsession for strength training and lifting weights started as a means to increase my performance in the pool. Fast forward many years later, I’ve been able to accomplish many “athletic feats” from my bucket list, but the one thing I’ve never been happy with is my own physique. I never had the “athletic body” at any point in my life. I just blamed my “poor genetics”, but in reality I didn’t have a good relationship with food and exercise. I wouldn’t eat till I “earned” my food, binge eat, use exercise, specifically cardiovascular (swim, bike and run) as a means to “burn off the calories”. It was vicious never ending cycle. Unhappy with my appearance and battling some low self esteem, I re-incorperated strength training for different reasons this time and slowly changed my relationship with food.
My love of athletics and fitness inspired me to pursue and complete my bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of Western Ontario. With quite the broad range of potential avenues to go down, I wasn’t sure where my degree would take me. It wasn’t until the last few years of my undergrad were I found the path I wanted to take. Progressing through my undergrad and time on the swim team, there’s a sort of “natural progression” from being a rookie to a more “senior” figure on the team. I constantly had teammates ask me for advice on their lifting technique, to partner up during strength sessions or to workout in the off season. I really enjoyed going down the rabbit hole of researching the biomechanics of exercise to best help my friends. The enjoyment of helping others through exercise, coupled with my degree, I wanted to pursue this further.
Immediately after completing my Undergraduate degree, I attained my Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA-CSCS) and worked with the Western Mustangs Varsity Swim Team as a strength and conditioning coach for 2 years.
Since then, I’ve been working full time as an in-person/online personal trainer and strength and conditioning coach that has experience working with a broad range of client needs, goals and ages. From increasing strength, body composition, help manage chronic conditions, athletes from various sports (Swimming, football, soccer, basketball, running and more), chances are I have some experience that may apply to you.
Regardless, if your goals are performance based, or general health and well-being I’m here to help.
I’m looking forward to helping you any way I can.
